December through March is the most successful sailfish-fishing season but these fish can be caught year round. Other big game fish that are frequently caught year round in the waters just off the Los Suenos marina are the dorado, yellowfin tuna, and snapper.

The Costa Rican reefs and rocks also provide the avid fisherman or the novice a true inshore fishing experience like no other. Huge roosterfish, snook and wahoo make these waters their homes year round. Snapper fish season is generally from October through December, similar to that of the marlin fishing season.
